Pakistan's white-ball captain, Babar Azam announced his decision to step down as the national team's captain from all formats, late night on Tuesday, October 1.

He had notified the PCB about the decision last month, according to his statement on social media.

With Babar stepping down from captaincy after leading the national team in 148 matches and winning 84 games in that period, he sits just behind the legendary Imran Khan in the list of most matches won as a captain.

Saleem Malik had led Pakistan in 46 matches and won 28 of them. with 60.8 win%.

While Imran Khan has the lowest win% of 47.5 among the above list of players, he is widely regarded as Pakistan's best captain due to the team's iconic 1992 World Cup victory under his leadership.

Babar unfortunately, did not win any major ICC tournaments during his tenure, however, under his leadership, Pakistan were able to India a decades long losing streak against India in World Cups and also reached the 2022 T20 WC final in Australia.
