Pakistan needed to win by at least 287 runs to qualify for the semifinals, so when England captain Jos Butller chose to bat first they were all but eliminated from the tournament. Joe Root and Ben Stokes led the way for England with 60 and 84 respectively.

In reply, both Pakistani openers were dimissed within the first three overs and were never really in the chase as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

After the end of the first innings, several fans of Pakistan shared a video of the team celebrating one of the English wickets to fall.

In the video, Babar Azam can be seen congratulating the bowler, Shaheen Shah Afridi. But just as Rizwan raises his hands to high-five the seamer, Babar appears to grab his arms and stop him from celebrating.

This led to jokes being cracked by fans of Pakistan and other teams alike, that Babar did not want his team to be celebrating as they had been knocked out of the World Cup.

There have some fans who claim that failure to securing a semis spot left Babar frustrated which resulted in him reaction that way  on the field.
