Batting first, Pakistan posted 270 in under 47 overs. Babar Azam (50), Saud Shakeel (52), and Shadab Khan (43) played valuable knocks for the Men in Green. Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi did the job for the Proteas, picking seven wickets between them.

In response, South Africa decided to take it down the wire. The Proteas recorded a toe-crushing one-wicket victory over Pakistan. Aiden Markram (91) scored the runs for South Africa, as Pakistan bowling attack was all over them. Shaheen Afridi picked three wickets. Haris Rauf, Mohammad Wasim, and Usama Mir earned two wickets each for Pakistan.

What happened between Babar Azam and Mohammad Nawaz?

South Africa won the match in the 48th over. As a part of the aggressive strategy adopted in defending the total, Pakistan deployed all their pacers early on. After 47 overs played, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Wasim Jr, had all finished their quota of 10 overs.

With spin remaining as the last resort, skipper Babar Azam turned to Mohammad Nawaz for the 48th over. South Africa required just five runs to win the game. And so they did!

Nawaz bowled a short ball down the legside and Keshav Maharaj easily pulled it to the fine leg boundary and win the game for his team.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam was seen fuming at Mohammad Nawaz after the spinner conceded a boundary (winning runs).

Nawaz is considered one of the confidantes of Babar Azam in the Pakistan camp but he did not hold back after the game, almost screaming at the left-arm bowler for giving away an easy boundary.
