All-rounder Shoaib Malik has made his intentions clear to represent Pakistan again. Malik last played for Pakistan in November 2021. However, he has not retired from international cricket, and has his sights set on the upcoming ICC event.

Pakistan have struggled at the world stage in the previous two ICC tournaments - ODI World Cup 2023 and T20 World Cup 2024. Babar Azam & Co. failed to make it past the group stages in both tournaments, and lacked experience in the squad. 

Seeing his country falter on the biggest occasions, Shoaib Malik has made public his decision to serve his country, if need be. The 42-year-old plays for the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. He revealed that if international cricket came calling, he would be ready to answer the call.

What did Shoaib Malik say about his availability for ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

Pakistan are set to host the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. After the debacle in the 2024 T20 World Cup, fans are expecting widescale changes in the Pakistan set up and Malik has decided to throw his hat into the ring.

Some of the current players might be out of the team after torrid campaigns and sensing an opportunity, the 42-year-old Malik has made himself available for Pakistan. 

Speaking to outlet PNN news, Malik has revealed about his intentions to play for Pakistan again. He talked about the desire to win the Champions Trophy. Pakistan last won the CT in 2017, beating arch-rivals India in the Final.

I want to represent Pakistan team again. I am available for Champions Trophy. I will try my best for my country. I want to win Champions Trophy for Pakistan, Shoaib Malik told PNN news.
