The Ashes is undoubtedly one of the most fiercely contested Test series between old foes England and Australia who share a rivalry that dates back more than 100 years.
Over the years, the series has witnessed a lot of drama and fiercely contested games and the ongoing Ashes 2023 is no exception.

The second test match of the series witnessed a bizarre run out of England wicket-keeper Jonny Bairstow on the final day. England's chase of 371 runs seemed to be on track with Ben Stokes and Bairstow looking to consolidate the innings.
On a short delivery by Cameron Green, the wicket-keeper batsman ducked before leaving the crease. However, just as he had ventured out of the crease, Carey launched a throwback at the stumps and it hit the target.
The Aussie players immediately celebrated, while the English batsman looked bewildered by what just took place. The umpire signalled to the third umpire, who after reviewing the incident deemed Bairstow out, which was met with boos from the home supporters.
A lot has been spoken on the manner of Bairstow's dismissal since then with the English accusing the Aussies of playing against the 'Spirit of Cricket'.
And now the Prime Ministers of both countries have weighed in on the fiery debate.

What did UK and Australian Prime Ministers say on Jonny Bairstow's dismissal?
Speaking on the incident, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, through a spokesperson, first stated:
"The prime minister agrees with (England captain) Ben Stokes who said he simply wouldn't want to win a game in the manner that Australia did."
Responding to Sunak, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote on Twitter,
I’m proud of our men’s and women’s cricket teams, who have both won their opening two #Ashes matches against England. Same old Aussies – always winning! Australia is right behind Alyssa Healy and Pat Cummins and their teams and look forward to welcoming them home victorious.
