Ravichandran Ashwin had a dream 100th Test in Dharamshala as he led India to an innings and 64-run win over England in the fifth and final Test of the series. The spinner finished with figures of 4/51 in the first innings and 5/77 in the second.
Having surpassed the legendary Anil Kumble to become the bowler with the most wickets taken in Tests in India, Ashwin now also holds the record for the most five-wickets hauls by an Indian in Tests.

Earlier, Ashwin became the second Indian bowler to pick up 500 Test wickets, after Anil Kumble, in the third test match against England.
Earlier in the series, After Muttiah Muralidharan, Ashwin became the second bowler to get 500 wickets in less than 100 Test matches. While the Sri Lankan took 87 tests to reach 500, Ashwin achieved the feat in his 97th Test match.

Anil Kumble vs R Ashwin: How have the duo fared in Tests at home?
Kumble made his debut in Tests in Aug 1990 at Manchester, but it wasn't until January 1993 that the leg-spinner played his first Test at home. It came against England at the Eden Gardens.
Ashwin, meanwhile, made his Test debut at home. In November 2011, in a Test match against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium (then known as the Feroz Shah Kotla) in Delhi, Ashwin received his Test cap.

Ashwin, meanwhile, has been used sparingly in Tests outside of West Indies and the sub-continent, playing just 40 away Tests in total.
In 69 away Tests, Kumble picked up 269 wickets, while Ashwin has scalped 153 wickets in 40 away Tests.
Ashwin, though, has proven to be a much more effective bowler in away Tests. Indeed, Ashwin averages below 30 in away Tests, while Kumble averages above 35.
