Former India international fast bowler Ajit Agarkar has been appointed by the BCCI as the chairman of the senior men's selection committee on Tuesday.

BCCI's Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which comprised of members namely Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra, and Jatin Paranjape, interviewed applications for the position of the chairman of the senior men's selection committee and the three-member panel unanimously decided to appoint Agarkar. 

The position remained empty since Chetan Sharma's resignation from the post in February after the infamous sting operation has now finally been filled by the former Indian speedster.

Who else are part of BCCI's men's selection committee?

Other than chairman Ajit Agarkar, former cricketers like Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, and Sridharan Sharath are part of the committee. 

What will be the first task of BCCI's selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar?

The newly appointed committee headed by Ajit Agarkar will be in charge of selecting the T20I Indian squad for the West Indies. The squad is likely to be announced next week.

How did Ajit Agarkar perform for India?

The Mumbai-based bowler made his Test and ODI debuts in 1998 and played in both formats until 2007. He made his T20 debut in 2006 and was part of the Indian team that won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup under MS Dhoni's captaincy.

He has represented the nation in 26 Tests, 191 ODIs, and four T20Is.
