Shahzad, 32, made his final appearance for Pakistan in 2019. Being frozen out of the team ever since Shahzad has taken over as a panellist on various TV shows.

He was very vocal about Pakistan's fiascos at the ODI World Cup 2023 and in the subsequent T20 World Cup 2024. Most recently, Shahzad slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for allowing the players to feature in the international T20 leagues.

Ahmad Shehzad blasts PCB for allowing players to compete in international leagues

Pakistan exited the T20 World Cup in the group stage. After yet another failure at an ICC event, the Pakistan players have been allowed to ply their trades in various T20 leagues across the world.

For instance, all-rounder Shadab Khan, who had a lacklustre T20 World Cup, picked a hat-trick in the ongoing Lanka Premier League 2024.

Ahmad Shahzad lambasted the PCB for allowing the players to play in T20 leagues, after a disgraceful outing in the United States.

PCB has allowed 12 players to play in leagues around the world after a very disappointing performance in the World Cup. These players have no shame, they did not perform for Pakistan but now they will play league cricket as usual. Is it correct to do this by PCB?, Shahzad wrote on X.

Shahzad expressed that the players only cared about their contracts in the international T20 leagues, over and above the privilege of playing for Pakistan. He also talked about how the players did not apologise to the fans after a dismal outing at the T20 World Cup.

According to the report submitted by the manager and head coach, why action has not been taken against thee players? These players are less interested in playing for Pakistan and only care about league contracts, Shahzad claimed.

PCB should ensure that players involved in grouping are removed from the team. These players should have apologized to the nation but they have no remorse and do not care about the feelings of the fans, the 32-year-old concluded.

What next for Pakistan?

As per the current schedule, the Babar Azam-led side are set to tour Australia for limited-overs cricket. A three-match ODI series would be followed by a three-match T20I series, as they prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The first ODI will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 04, 2024.
