Afghanistan is set to host South Africa in a three-match ODI series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This series will be the first time that the two teams will face off against each other in a bilateral 50-over series.

All matches in the upcoming series will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, starting from September 18.

Afghanistan’s cricket team is eager to return to action after their recent Test match against New Zealand in Noida was called off due to poor ground conditions. Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the Afghan ODI side, with Rahmat Shah as vice-captain.

South Africa will be led by Temba Bavuma. The Proteas will be looking to begin their preparations for the future international matches, with a sight in particular on the ICC Champions Trophy next year, in February 2025.
