R Ashwin, while answering the media at the end of the second day of Rajkot Test, bewildered the fans, and critics. The 37-year-old stated how he was 'an accidental spinner.'

It's been a very long journey. I don't exactly know where to begin because I was an accidental spinner, I wanted to be a batter all along, Ashwin revealed in the press conference. 

Ashwin credited the Chennai Super Kings franchise for his prominence as a spinner. The CSK gave him the opportunity to bowl in the powerplay overs. It was only then that he grabbed the eyeballs of the critics and fans.

Life gave me a chance, and when I walked into the CSK dressing room, Muthiah Muralidaran didn't want to bowl with the new ball, and eventually I got tossed the new ball, Ashwin revealed his experience from his time with the CSK franchise.
