AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli are known to be very close friends since their days together at Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The two batsmen share a very close personal bond and have remained in touch even after the South African star retired from professional cricket and left RCB.

Recently, Virat Kohli opted out of India's ongoing Test series against England for personal reasons. Ahead of the first Test, BCCI announced that Kohli had made himself unavailable for selection for the first two matches due to personal reasons.

However, the Delhi-born batsman has prolonged his leave period for the rest of the series, the reason of which was kept curtained by the BCCI.

Why did AB De Villiers apologise to Virat Kohli?

A week back, AB de Villiers revealed that Virat Kohli and his wife and actress Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child. Due to Sharma's pregnancy, Kohli has taken a break to be with his family.

On his YouTube channel, De Villiers said,

Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it's family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people's priority is family. You can't judge Virat for that.

What did AB De Villiers say in apology towards Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma?

On February 10, a day after AB De Villiers accidentally revealed the reason for Kohli's sabbatical, he apologised to the couple. The former Protean skipper also urged the fans to give Virat Kohli and his family the utmost privacy that they deserve at this time.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the South African said,

My friend Virat Kohli is still not available. I cry out to everyone to give him the privacy that he deserves. Family comes first. No one knows what exactly is going on. I am asking all of us to respect that. I did bit of a blunder in my previous show and I apologise to the Kohli family for that
