The Lucknow Super Giants made a huge impression in their debut Indian Premier League season 12 months ago and will be out to go even further this time around.

After making their bow against fellow new 2022 franchise the Gujarat Titans, the Super Giants went on to win nine of their 14 group-stage matches to finish third in the table.

Heartbreak followed in the eliminator, where Royal Challengers Bangalore secured a 14-run victory but there was plenty for the Super Giants to take heart from in their first crack at the competition.

Here, the Sporting News takes a look at the short history of the Super Giants – who opened IPL 2023 with a 50-run beating of the Delhi Capitals – and the star names on their roster.

How many IPL titles have the Lucknow Super Giants won?

The Super Giants only have one season to go off and, while the title eluded them, it was certainly a promising campaign.

Ultimately, RCB proved their undoing with Rajat Patidar's 112 not out helping to set an imposing 207/4.

KL Rahul's 79 and a swift 45 off 26 from Deepak Hooda were in vain as the Super Giants lost by 14 runs.
