Ravichandran Ashwin became the second Indian bowler to pick up 500 test wickets, after Anil Kumble, in the third test match against England at Rajkot on Friday.
He was just a wicket away at the start of the match and after dismissing Zak Crawley for 15 runs, the off-spinner reached the milestone. The Tamil Nadu bowler broke the 90-run opening partnership between Crawley and Ben Duckett.
After Muttiah Muralidharan, Ashwin became the second bowler to get 500 wickets in less than 100 test matches. While the Sri Lankan took 87 tests to reach 500, Ashwin is playing in his 97th Test match.
