After losing Pathum Nissanka early, Sri Lanka built two solid partnerships of 122 and 97 runs for the 2nd and 3rd wickets respectively.
Kamindu Mendis joined the veteran Angelo Mathews in the middle at 221/3 as they stitched together another century partnership at a brisk strike rate.
Kamindu Mendis continues to shine in Test cricket
On day 2 of the Test, while batting alongside Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Mendis, the left-hander continued his great start to the Test career and brought up another century in back-to-back Tests, making it his fifth in just 13 innings alongside the other 3 fifties.
So far, in the 8-match Test career which began in 2022 against Australia, the 25-year-old has scored two centuries against New Zealand, one against England in England and twin centuries against Bangladesh in Sylhet early in 2024, with a high score of 164.

With his 5th Test century in Tests coming in the second Test at Galle, Kamindu equalled Sir Don Bradman on an elite list of batters with the most Test centuries after 13 innings with only Australian Neil Harvey ahead of them.
