Ryan Garcia will now be campaigning at super lightweight and is determined to put his April knockout loss to Gervonta Davis behind him. The California-born star looks to release his anger when he returns to the ring to face Oscar Duarte at the Toyota Center in Houston on December 2. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will air on DAZN worldwide.

A 15x national amateur champion, Garcia began his career with highlight-reel knockout wins. The 25-year-old boxer-puncher defeated the likes of Luke Campbell and Javier Fortuna, but his first superfight came against Davis. Garcia was aggressive early and walked onto a huge left hand in Round 2 before being stopped by a body shot in the seventh. He views Duarte as a step toward securing a rematch.

“I don’t know nothing about [Duarte], but there’s a difference. I’m way more experienced and have more tools than him. He doesn’t have a lot of options with me,” Garcia told Fight Hub via Boxing News 24. “So, I’m going to know what’s coming at me, but he’s not going to know what’s coming at him. It’s just simple. Oscar is going to come and try to fight and make it a tough fight, but how tough can you be when you keep getting punched in the face? You can’t be that tough.”

Duarte will be the one looking to punch Garcia in the face. The 27-year-old has 21 wins via knockout and has won eleven in a row via the power punch. He’s looking for his third win in 2023, and though he’s the massive underdog, the Mexican-born fighter is ready to shock the world.
