NBA Primetime Sundays: Hawks edge shorthanded Bucks behind Trae Young's game-winner in OT image

Rookie of the Year candidate Trae Young got a last second shot in overtime to fall, helping the Atlanta Hawks edge a shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks in an entertaining clash at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

With just 1.1 seconds left, it was Hawks' ball and possibly the last possession of the game. Brook Lopez swatted away a lob attempt at the rim but the ball fell into Young's hands as he got a lucky bounce on an off-balance shot attempt:

This is what Young had to say about the shot and the win:

Young, who is one half of the Hawks' exciting young duo, didn't have a great shooting night going 5-of-16 from the field but the ball went down when it mattered the most. In 36 minutes of action, the rookie recorded a double-double of 12 points and 16 assists while also grabbing 5 rebounds and registering 2 steals.

Prior to Young's improbable shot, the shorthanded Bucks seemed to walked away with the win on this Sterling Brown shot:

Without their key players, the Bucks had seven of their eight players score in double figures, led by Sterling Brown's 27 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.

Prior to Sunday's primetime game between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Atlanta Hawks, the NBA's top team announced that they were suiting up without three starters including MVP candidate Giannis Antetokounmpo.

All-Star Khris Middleton and starting point guard Eric Bledsoe didn't take the court either, but that didn't take away an entertaining contest from the fans in Atlanta. The Bucks were also without key rotation players in Nikola Mirotic, Tony Snell, and Malcolm Brogdon.

Despite the lack of depth, the Bucks stormed out of the gates, scoring 43 points in the first quarter. However, they only scored 28 in the second and were leading only by three at halftime.

John Collins, the other half of the Hawks' exciting young duo, recorded a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds while also dishing out 4 assists.

En route to the win, the Hawks shot a season-high 22 3-pointers on 61 attempts (36.1%). Both teams combined for a NBA record 116 three-point attempts, as the Bucks attempted 55 themselves but could only knock down 17 (30.9%).
