Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has become the No. 1 in the latest world athletics men's javelin throw rankings.
Chopra, who won the Doha Diamond League, took over the top ranking from Anderson Peters. The Indian currently has 1455 points, 22 more than second-placed Peters.

He had created history in Tokyo in 2021 by winning the gold medal in javelin, which was India's first Olympic medal in track and field. Chopra clinched silver at the World Championships last year and won the Diamond League final in Zurich last year.
His title defense in 2023 got off to a flying start as he clinched the gold medal at Doha Diamond League.
When will Neeraj Chopra be next seen in action?
The Indian will be next seen in action at the FBK Games which starts in Netherlands on June 4. He is also set to take part in the Paavo Nurmi Games 2023 in Turku, Finland, on June 13.
He is also set to compete at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, where he will defend his gold medal, and participate in the World Athletics Championship in Budapest.
