Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar won the gold medal at the 13th International Jumping Meeting Filahtlitikos at Kallithea Municipal Stadium in Kallithea, Greece on Wednesday.
The Indian athlete, who had won the gold medal last year as well, defended his title with a best jump of 8.31m.
With the jump on Wednesday, the 24-year-old successfully breached the Asian Games 2023 qualifying mark which was set at 7.95m.

Sreeshankar started with a 7.94m jump but then onwards consistently clocked more than 8m jumps (8.17m, 8.11m, 8.04m, 8.01m, 8.18m) before finally registering his gold medal-winning tally of 8.31m.

Fellow Indian Jeswin Aldrin came second behind Sreeshankar with a best jump of 7.85m. Aldrin bettered his performance from last year as he finished fifth in 2022.
Although Aldrin remained consistent with jumps clocking 7.81m, 7.85m, 7.74m, 7.74m, and 7.78m, he was nowhere close to his compatriot's tallies.
