The National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar served as the final selection trials for the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou and the World Championships in Hungary.
During the meet 70 Indian athletes achieved qualification for the Asiad across 25 disciplines.
The Athletics Federation of India will now pick the team for the marquee international tournament after carefully considering the performances of the events since the turn of the year including the Federation Cup held last month in Ranchi.
The Asian Games 2022 has been postponed to 2023 due to COVID-19. In the last edition, India sent a 570-strong contingent to Jakarta to compete in 36 different sports.
