A total of six Indian athletes will be vying for glory at this event. This is the second in the series of qualifying events for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Meanwhile, the World Weightlifting Championships 2022 in Colombia was the first where Chanu finished second in the women’s 49kg division.
However, the Olympic medallist had a disappointing outing this time around and finished in the sixth position. However, it must be noted that she was returning from an injury after five months during which she underwent rehabilitation at NIS Patiala.
But Bindyarani Devi has clinched the silver medal in the non-Olympic 55kg weight category with an effort of 194kg (83kg + 111kg).
