India have fielded a star-studded contingent for the upcoming Archery World Cup 2023 Stage 2 to be held in Shanghai, China from May 16-21.
Created in 2006, the Archery World Cup is the premier annual event that pits the best archers in the world against each other .
There aren't any qualifiers for this event, with participants being invited according to the rankings. The tournament features Recurve and Compound bow styles with men and women competing separately in each category respectively.
Apart from an Olympic year, the tournament has four stages before a grand final to crown the final winner.
In the first stage in 2023, which was held in Antalya, Turkey, the Indian mixed contingent won four medals. Jyoti Surekha Vennam was India's star performer in the Compound section winning a gold medal individually, as well as with the mixed compound team. The men's recurve team won the silver medal, with China getting the jump on them for the gold medal.
