WrestleMania 35 results: Becky Lynch wins historic all-women main event; Kofi Kingston scores emotional win for WWE title image

It was a long night, but in the end after nearly seven-and-a-half hours of action, Becky Lynch capped off WrestleMania 35 as both the "RAW" and "SmackDown" women's champion.

It was history in the making, with a women's match in the main event spot for the first time in the event's 35 years, as Lynch Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair battled it out. In the end, Lynch and Rousey were alone in the ring with "The Man" handing Rousey her first WWE loss. The night caps off an amazing run for Lynch, who caught fire last year when WWE tried to turn her heel, only for fans to rally behind her and help take her to another level.

Elsewhere, both of the men's major championships changed hands as Seth Rollins opened the show by conquering "The Beast" Brock Lesnar to take the Universal championship, while Kofi Kingston had the feel-good moment of the evening with a victory over Daniel Bryan in a match-of-the-night performance to win the WWE championship for the first time in his 11-year WWE career.

The show felt satisfying as a whole, but the overall length of the event — plus a bloated Triple H-Batista match — put a damper on what turned out to be a long night with an overpacked show.

WrestleMania 35 results: Live updates, highlights

Becky Lynch defeats Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair vs. in a "Winner Takes All" Triple Threat match to win both the "RAW" and "SmackDown" women's championships

12:22 a.m. FINISH: The table is now leaning up against the corner. Charlotte tried to spear both Becky and Ronda through it, but instead, she gets flipped into the table. Becky and Ronda sqaure off and the punches are flying. Ronda gets Becky up on her shoulders and slams her down with the Piper's Pit, but Becky pins her shoulders down and get the three count out of nowhere. Becky Lynch is both the "RAW" and "SmackDown" women's champion. On the replay, Rousey's shoulder was clearly up on the one count before they were down on the mat. Regardless, Becky Lynch is a double champion.

Rousey is complaining that her shoulders weren't down, but she suffers her first loss in WWE. A strong, hard-hitting match to end the show despite the flat finish as those women were working hard and really putting their bodies on the line.

12:19 a.m.: A table is now set up in the ring, but Ronda grabs it and chucks it away. She doesn't want any stinkin' tables! Charlotte with a spear on both of them and covers Becky who kicks out. Then she covers Ronda who also kicks out.

12:15 a.m. : Charlotte is targeting Ronda's left leg now, which has some nasty welts and a bruise on it. She wraps her around the corner post and puts her in a draping Figure Four.

12:13 a.m. : Becky rolls over Ronda and puts her in the Disarmer, but Ronda gets to the ropes. Becky is holding on and now has the hold on while sitting on the top rope before Charlotte breaks it up. Flair with a Spanish Fly and she makes the cover on Becky who kicks out.

12:11 a.m.: Charlotte is on the top rope and Becky connects with an exploder suplex. Ronda comes back and puts them both in an armbar again in the middle of the ring and Becky and Charlotte powerbomb her, but Ronda holds on. Another powerbomb and she's still holding on. A third one and Ronda finally lets go.

12:09 a.m.: Becky has the Disarmer on Charlotte, but Ronda breaks it up. She dumps Becky onto the floor and Ronda hits her with some shots to the midsection before Charlotte fires back with chops. Ronda is going for the armbar again, but Charlotte torques her over and goes for a Boston Crab when Becky comes back in the ring and breaks it up. She hits a DDT on both of them and covers Ronda who kicks out.

12:06 a.m.: Rousey gets in the ring and continues the attack. Becky and Charlotte try to powerbomb her, but Ronda gets an armbar on both of them while hanging over the ropes. Becky breaks free and then drop kicks Ronda who falls hard on the floor.

12:03 a.m.: The bell rings and Rousey goes on the attack, knocking both Lynch and Flair outside the ring. She picks up Lynch and slams her into the barricade before Flair overhead suplexed Rousey on the floor. Now it's Charlotte and Becky in the ring.

12:00 a.m. : Yes, it's late, but who cares because we've got a historic match to close out WrestleMania with women ending the show for the first time in the event's history. Let's do this!

11:57 p.m.: And Becky makes three.

11:55 p.m.: Joan Jett and The Blackhearts are out here to play Ronda out to the ring.

11:51 p.m.: Awesome entrance for "The Queen" as she arrives in a helicopter.

11:44 p.m.: Our WrestleMania host Alexa Bliss comes out to announce a MetLife Stadium WWE record of 82,265 fans.

Bliss then says it's time for a break. Um, does she not know what time it is? Camella and R-Truth come out and want to have the world's largest seven second dance break. Exciting.

Finn Balor beats Bobby Lashley to win the WWE Intercontinental championship

11:40 p.m. FINISH: They get back into the ring and Balor, er, "The Demon" with a display of strength as he plants Lashley in the ring with a powerbomb. Coup de grace to follow and he gets the pin to win the I-C title. Quick match as they're over on time. Way over.

11:38 p.m.: Balor comes out of the gate quick with offense, but after a couple minutes, he gets distracted by Lio Rush.

11:35 p.m: Here comes "The Demon."

Baron Corbin defeats Kurt Angle in Angle's retirement match

11:25 p.m. FINISH: Angle goes to the top rope and comes off with a moonsault, but Corbin moves out of the way. Corbin hits the Deep Six and gets the pin. Say what?

Yeah, they really had Corbin win in Angle's final match. I understand the "time-honored tradition," but I don't know about that one. Afterwards, Angle got on the mic and thanked the crowd. He added that people have said those two words about him so "play my music and say those words." As fans chanted "you suck," Michael Cole said that "those two words do not exemplify Angle's career." Glad that got cleared up.

11:22 p.m. : Angle hits a vintage German suplex, but Corbin comes back with a big kick to the face. But then's it Angle breaking out the Angle slam.

11:20 p.m.: Angle gets the huge pyro and firewords for his final match.

Triple H defeats Batista in a No Holds Barred match

11:15 p.m. FINISH: Ric Flair is at ringside and he gives Triple H a sledgehammer. He then mouths off at Batista and Hunter cracks "The Animal" with the weapon and hits a Pedigree to put him away. Finally. And Triple H's in-ring career will continue!

11:10 p.m.: The steps are in the ring and Triple H powerbombs Batista off the rope onto them. He follows up with a Pedigree and makes the cover, but Batista kicks out. Sure. BTW, Shawn Michaels commentary during this one. He's trying, but it's the most cliched stuff you've ever heard.

11:07 p.m.: Triple H grabs his trusty sledgehammer, but Batista saws him in half with a spear. Now he has the sledgehammer, but Triple H kicks him in the head and drops the weapon. Triple H has it again, but Batista with a spinebuster and he's again calling for the Batista Bomb. He hits it and makes the cover, but Triple H kicks out. No matter how much Michael Cole screams on the call, this match is dragging.

11:03 p.m.: Batista cracks Triple H with the steel steps, puts the steps on an announcer's table and drops Hunter on it. He climbs onto the table and is calling for the Batista Bomb, but Triple H backdrops him onto the other announcer's table. Both get to their feet and Triple H spears him through the German announce table.

10:56 p.m.: Batista is coming back and drops Triple H on one of the broadcast tables and tosses him hard into the barricade. Batista grabs a chair and smashes "The Game" in the back and now they're back in the ring.

10:53 p.m.: Now, he has a pair of pliers and is using it on Batista's fingers. The "Animal" goes in the ring and Triple H follows with a chair and bashes him in the back with it. Now he's sitting on the chair and choking Batista with it. He going after the nose ring with pliers and he pulls it out!

10:51 p.m.: And they're fighting! Triple H grabs a toolbox from ringside and slams Batista in the left shoulder. Then he grabs a big chain and whacks him in the back several times and wraps it around his face and wrenches back on it.

10:47 p.m.: Remember, if "The Game" loses then he must retire. I believe the entrances were longer than the previous match between McIntyre and Reigns. Yikes.

10:45 p.m.: Yet another new vehicle for Triple H to come to the ring with at WrestleMania. Where do they store these things?

10:42 p.m.: I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

10:40 p.m.: Oh, hi there.

10:34 p.m.: Rap time with Johnny Cena including how he's about to turn heel, his movie sucks, and how Elias is about to get the F.U. He hits Elias with the microphone, delivers the F.U. and drops the Five Knuckle Shuffle.

10:30 p.m.: A somewhat long video plays of classic Yankees footage including the Bambino calling his shot. And who comes out? The doctor of Thugonomics. Yep, it's old school John Cena!

10:27 p.m.: Time for a musical performance from Elias. He's somewhere playing drums and then the keyboard and live in the ring on guitar. Yes, all three of him with a song. Sure...

Roman Reigns defeats Drew McIntyre

10:20 p.m. FINISH: Reigns is coming back and he loads up for the Superman punch. He misses, but comes off the ropes and hits it. He gets in position and nails a spear to score the win. The crowd was not into this including some booing Reigns as he came to the ring. This match deserved a lot more time and came nowhere close to expectations. That being said, it's still great to see Reigns back at WrestleMania following his illness.

10:16 p.m.: Reigns has McIntyre upside down in the corner and he goes to the top, but the Scottish Psychopath sits up and tosses Reigns to the mat. Core strength at its finest.

10:13 p.m.: McIntyre is on the apron and Reigns drops him with a clothesline. They're on the floor and Reigns misses with the Drive By and McIntyre smacks him with punches and suplexes him off the apron to the floor. They go back in the ring and McIntyre with an Alabama Slam and he makes the cover, but Reigns kicks out. McIntyre looks frustrated and punishes him with punches to the face.

10:09 p.m.: Plenty of punches and power moves early on.

10:04 p.m.: Big showcase match here for Drew and he gets the big entrance with a bagpipe band. Dude is intense.

And Roman gets a pretty big entrance too.

Samoa Joe beats Rey Mysterio to retain the WWE United States championship

9:58 p.m. FINISH: Samoa Joe is making his WrestleMania debut and he makes it a quick one. Mysterio hits a big DDT and goes to the top rope, but when he is about to jump off, Joe catches him and cinches in the Coquina Clutch. He's got it deep in the middle of the ring and Mysterio is out. Joe wins!

Kofi Kingston beats Daniel Bryan to win the WWE championship

9:47 p.m. FINISH: Bryan puts on the LeBell Lock for the third time, but Kofi reverses out and gets mount position and rocks Bryan with some ground and pound. Kofi is kicking Bryan over and over and is ready to finish him off. Bryan gets to his fit and Kofi connects with the Trouble in Paraside. He makes the cover and gets the three count. Kofi has done it! Kofi Kingston is the WWE Champion!

And The New Day has something in store for Kofi: the WWE Championship and not the one Daniel Bryan made.

Kofi is crying in the ring and his little boys join him in the ring to celebrate.

And one other surprise as The New Day already have new championship shirts made for the occasion! (Available now on WWEshop.com). Very well paced match that rose until reaching a climax with Kingston finally getting his dream win. Best match of the night so far.

9:42 p.m.: Kofi is feeling the moment and the crowd comes alive chanting for him again. He misses the Trouble in Paraside and Bryan connects with a running knee. He makes the cover, but Kofi kicks out!

9:39 p.m.: Kingston with an SOS, but Bryan turns it into the LeBell Lock with Kofi stretching out his foot and barely getting to the ropes. Bryan is smirking and thinks he has this in the bag and Big E is yelling support for Kofi. Bryan with a series of "YES" kicks and Kofi somehow makes his way to his feet. Now, he's firing back with kicks and the two are exchanging shots. Kofi puts him in what looks like a Dragon sleeper and picks him up, then slamming him down, but Bryan survives the pin attempt.

9:36 p.m.: Kofi goes for the Trouble in Paradise, but Bryan blocks it. He goes for the Boston Crab and Kingston blocks; then followed by them exchanging cradle pin attempts. And the crowd is coming alive with people hoping to see a new champion.

9:31 p.m.: Running drops kicks by Bryan in the corner and Kingston comes firing out of the corner, but Bryan reverses it into a Boston Crab. Nice series. Kingston gets to the ropes and Bryan has to break the hold. Kofi is trying to come back and is on the top rope, but pushes Bryan off and then connects with a splash onto his back.

9:26 p.m.: Bryan is outside the ring and Kofi springboards off the top rope, but Bryan sidesteps him as Kofi slams into the side of the announcer's table. Now, he's draped across the top rope and Bryan connects with a knee to his back off the top rope. The champ is in control.

9:20 p.m.: The match is underway and Kofi takes a minute to soak it in and take some deep breaths. The crowd is 100 percent behind him and "KofiMania" chants breaks out. He knocks Bryan outside of the ring and takes to the air.

9:15 p.m.: Believe it or not, this is Kofi's first match for the world championship. And the Empire State Building is lit up.

The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) defeat The Boss 'n' Hug Connection (Bayley and Sasha Banks), The Divas of Doom (Beth Phoenix and Natalya), and Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka in a Fatal four-way match to win the "RAW" women's championship

9:07 p.m. FINISH: Billie Kaye with a blind tag on Beth Phoenix who hits Bayley with a GlamSlam off the top rope. Beth makes the cover, but the IIconics shove her off and Billie makes the cover and gets the win. We have new champs!

9:05 p.m.: Natalya puts both Sasha and Bayley in the Sharpshooter. Sasha is about to tap out, but Bayley grabs her hand so she can't.

9:00 p.m.: Shades of the Hart Foundation.

8:55 p.m. : Nice to see Bret Hart walk out Nattie and Beth. And no one attacking him from the crowd.

Shane McMahon defeats The Miz in a Falls Count Anywhere match

8:46 p.m FINISH: They're over by the production setup and The Miz hits the Skull Crushing Finale and he makes the cover, but Shane kicks out. So, what do they do? Climb higher. They're up in the top section and Shane has nowhere to go. The Miz starts pelting him with punches, but he gets turned around and is on the edge. Then, he turns it around. He gives him a HUGE superplex. But after the fall, it's Shane laying on top of Miz and the referee makes the three count. Shane McMahon is still the best in the world.

8:43 p.m.: They're over at the international broadcast team area and The Miz slams Shane through an announcer's table before knocking him over a railing with Shane falling on top of a golf cart.

8:39 p.m.: Shane's left leg is hurt as they fight into the crowd, with Miz bashing him with a chair.

8:35 p.m.: Shane cracks Miz in the head with one of the TV monitors on the broadcast table and goes to the top rope to land a big elbow, but Poppa Miz jumps the barricade and blocks him. Then George (his dad)  gets in the ring and is ready to duke it out with him, but Shane drops him in the corner and kicks away. BUT HERE COMES THE MIZ!!! He attacks Shane and then tends to his dad and commands the medics to help him. Then, he turns his attention back on Shane and dives over the ringside barricade onto him.

8:30 p.m.: The Miz goes after Shane who tried to grab his dad. And the fight is on. The Miz goes right after him and chases him down.

8:26 p.m.: The Miz is doing this for dad.

8:23 p.m.: SOAK IT IN.

8:19 p.m.: Time to celebrate the newest members of the WWE Hall of Fame including Torrie Wilson, the Honky Tonk Man, The Hart Foundation, and DX.

The Usos beat Ricochet and Aleister Black, The Bar, and Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev in a Fatal four-way match to retain the "SmackDown" tag team titles

8:12 p.m. FINISH: Almost everyone trades finishers and Sheamus is down in the middle of the ring with The Usos and they connect with a double splash off the top rope to score the win. Another good, solid match but it felt short. (That will be a recurring theme.)

8:10 p.m.: Everyone is up on the top and they all come crashing down with a massive backdrop, but Ricochet is so athletic, he lands on his feet.

8:05 p.m.: Ricochet is breaking out some flippy stuff, but Cesaro wants no part of that and gives him an incredible Cesaro spin as they go round and round and round and round and ...

8:00 p.m.: The Usos are walking into WrestleMania for the third year in a row as tag-team champions. That's pretty impressive. Speaking of them, it was recently reported that the brothers re-signed with the company.

AJ Styles defeats Randy Orton

7:51 p.m. FINISH: Orton has Styles on the top turnbuckle and is setting him up for a huge RKO, but AJ slides out and hits a Pele kick. Orton goes to the floor and Styles lands a huge springboard Phenomenal Forearm. Orton is back in the ring and AJ is ready to hit his finisher again, but Orton tries to land the RKO. Styles holds off and drops Orton across the top rope, hits the Phenomenal Forearm and gets the pin. A bit short, but still a nice match between these two.

7:48 p.m.: Styles with a huge kick to the head and he rolls up Orton for the pin, but RKO OUTTA NOWHERE! Orton makes the cover, but Styles kicks out. It has been a while since that happened.

7:45 p.m.: Styles is on the apron and springs up on the ropes for the Phenomenal Forearm and Orton is ready to hit the RKO, but Styles drops down and then connects with the 450 splash. Nice callback to "SmackDown."

7:40 p.m.: Styles on offense early with some big punches and a clothesline. He follows that up with a clothesline in the corner and then drops Orton across his knee. Orton comes back outta nowhere. (Just not the RKO... yet.)

7:34 p.m.: We'll finally get the answer as to who is the face of "SmackDown" if you don't count current WWE Champion Daniel Bryan.

7:32 p.m. : Rollins has freed the Universal championship!

Seth Rollins defeats Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship

7:26 p.m. FINISH: Lesnar accidentally sends Rollins into the ref who falls outside the ring. Rollins takes advantage and hits a low blow. The ref gets back in and Rollins is ready to capitalize. He hits the Stomp. Another Stomp and he makes the cover — 1, 2, 3. We have a NEW Universal Champion. Seth Rollins has slayed The Beast. That was one heckuva way to get this show started.

7:23 p.m.: Lesnar throws Rollins back into the ring and the referee is checking on him. But Lesnar isn't waiting and he throws Rollins back outside the ring and again over one of the announcer's tables. Rollins' back already has a nasty red welt on it. Lesnar gets Rollins back in the ring and the bell rings — the match is underway.

7:19 p.m. : And here comes the King, er, Beast Slayer — Seth Rollins.

As he's stepping into the ring, Lesnar attacks him and gives him an F5 on the floor. The bell hasn't even rung yet and Lesnar continues to thrash Rollins, tossing him over the announcer's table and then another one.

7:15 p.m.: Paul Heyman marches out to the ring and says that if his client, Brock Lesnar, isn't in the main event, then they are waiting around all night and they want to get this over with right now. He adds that immediately after Lesnar wins, they plan on going to Las Vegas where they'll be "ultimately appreciated." So, we're kicking this off with the Universal championship match. Holy cow!

7:11 p.m.: The host of WrestleMania — Alexa Bliss — comes out and says she can make a WrestleMania moment just by snapping her fingers. Of course, she obliges and Hulk Hogan's music hits.

Hogan jokes about being here at the Silverdome. (he screwed that up at WrestleMania 30) and said he's happy to be here at the MetLife Center. Um, it's MetLife Stadium, Hulk. He does the whole "whatcha gonna do" when Hulkamania and Alexa Bliss run wild on you.

7:02 p.m.: And here we go with the main show!

Braun Strowman wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

6:49 p.m. FINISH: Lots of bodies going flying and Braun Strowman is the only person standing in the ring. Che and Jost come out from under the ring and sneak up from behind him and give a weak effort trying to eliminate him. Strowman easily shrugs them off and Jost grabs a microphone. He tells Strowman that they don't have to resort to violence and his therapist is there to help him. Well, Strowman wants none of that and tosses that guy around. He then tosses Che over the top rope and to the floor. Jost from behind and Strowman is straddling the top rope. Jost tries to get him out, but it's not happening. He picks up Jost and tosses him from the ring onto a bunch of wrestlers. Braun Strowman is your winner.

6:44 p.m.: Luke Harper is on the apron and hoists Ali up for a suplex when Strowman kicks Harper in the face and they both fall hard on the floor with Ali ending up face-first into the announcer's table.

6:43 p.m.: EC3 gets eliminated early (of course) and Strowman charges at someone in the corner, but misses, slamming his shoulder hard into the post and falling outside the ring. Otis with the caterpillar and then hits a double elbow drop.

6:38 p.m.: The bell rings and Jost and Che immediately jumped out through the ropes and hid under the ring. Smart move.

6:32 p.m.: Time for the 'Dre including SNL hosts Michael Che and Colin Jost. Che comes out wearing amateur wrestling head gear, while Jost is sporting a Cleveland Browns Odell Beckham Jr. jersey. What a wonderful troll.

Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder defeat The Revival to win the "RAW" tag team titles

6:28 p.m.: FINISH: All four are on the floor and Dawson hits Hawkins with a brainbuster on the floor. They get back in the ring and Hawkins with a small package and he gets the win. The losing ends at 269 for Hawkins (someone was keeping count) and we have new "RAW" tag team champions.

6:23 p.m.: Ryder and Wilder go tumbling over the top rope to the floor and fall hard.

6:18 p.m.: Old school.

6:13 p.m.: Tag team titles up for grabs as Curt Hawkins tries to snap his 200-plus match losing streak. (Honestly, it's so big now that it's hard to keep track.)

6:06 p.m.: Second hour of the kickoff show and "Mr. WrestleMania" Shawn Michaels joins the broadcast table. And he dressed up for the occasion.

Carmella wins the Women's Battle Royal

5:56 p.m.: FINISH: Surprise as Sarah Logan eliminates Asuka and she thinks she's won the match. Not so fast as Carmella gets back in the ring and comes up from behind her as she was never officially out. She gets Logan on the apron and connects with a Superkick and Logan falls to the floor. Carmella gets the win. Decent match for the ladies.

5:51 p.m.: Dana Brooke is on fire eliminating Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan and we're down to the final five. Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville team up to eliminate Dana and then Mandy is out.

5:46 p.m.: Maria Kanellis lasted maybe 30 seconds before being eliminated and Ember Moon is out too. And so much for Lana in her Wonder Woman outfit.

5:41 p.m.: It's the first of two battle royal matches on the kickoff show. Naomi and Asuka are the only ones who get entrances, with the rest coming to the ring together.

Tony Nese defeats Buddy Murphy for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

5:34 p.m. FINISH: Nese gets planted hard and Murphy makes the cover, but Nese gets his foot on the bottom rope just before the three count. A minute later, he hits a huge running knee and it's over — new WWE Cruiserweight Champion!

5:31 p.m.: Whoa! Space Flying Tiger drop!

5:28 p.m.: Innovative offense from the challenger.

5:22 p.m.: First match of the night with the cruiserweight title up for grabs. Buddy Murphy has had a fantastic run as champion and this should be fun.

5:10 p.m.: Hot news: the match between The Revival and Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder for the "RAW" tag team titles has been moved up to the kickoff show.

5:00 p.m.: Here we go with Sporting News' live coverage of WrestleMania 35 from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. We'll be here all night from the kickoff show and through the main card with bell-to-bell coverage.
