That's now Mayor Kane to you, wrestling fans.

The WWE superstar (real name Glenn Jacobs) easily won election Thursday as mayor of Knox County, Tenn., home to Knoxville and the University of Tennessee. Running as a Republican, Jacobs led his Democratic opponent, Linda Haney, by a 2-to-1 margin in early returns.

Jacobs, 50, declared victory shortly after the polls closed, but Haney had yet to concede, the Knoxville News Sentinel reported.

Jacobs, as Kane, remained active on the WWE circuit while campaigning for mayor; for example, he appeared on "Smackdown Live" in June and saved onetime tag-team partner Daniel Bryan:

He has said that he may get back into the ring once he's mayor. The News Sentinel reported Jacobs will take office Sept. 1.
