Perhaps still disheartened by its stunning loss to Switzerland Saturday in the semifinals, Canada had little zip in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the United States in the bronze medal game at the 2018 IIHF World Championship in Copenhagen.
On the other hand, Team USA played with jump throughout, winning its eighth bronze medal at the Worlds, while Canada finished without a medal for the first time in four years with a fourth place standing.
Canada handed the United States seven power play opportunities, a real difference-maker in the game. Team USA cashed in with a pair of power play goals, including one by Nick Bonino that snapped a 1-1 tie with 7:39 to play in regulation. From there, the United states added empty-net goals by Anders Lee and Chris Kreider -- his second goal of the contest -- to close out Canada.
