WNBA All-Star 2019: Erica Wheeler impresses in showcase debut as Team A'ja Wilson wins image

The WNBA's top talent was on display Sunday in Las Vegas.

The league's All-Star game featured team captains Elena Delle Donne and A'ja Wilson, who did not play due to injury, and a handful of veterans. But it was a first-time All-Star who showed out at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, home of the Las Vegas Aces, where Team Wilson won 129-126.

Indiana Fever's Erica Wheeler, a player who went undrafted but made her way into the league in 2015, recorded a game-high 25 points to earn MVP honors.

She was 9 of 17 from the field and 7 of 13 from 3-point range and was moved to tears as she accepted the MVP trophy as the first undrafted player to receive the award.

Wheeler contributed to the 100-plus 3-pointers attempted in the game where there wasn't much defense.

No one seemed to mind, however, as Phoenix Mercury's Brittney Griner had multiple dunks, teammate DeWanna Bonner sunk 30-foot 3-pointers and Aces' center Liz Cambage played point guard — something she, unfortunately, won't be doing in the second half of the season.

It was just a few of the highlights from the star-studded event.

The WNBA season will start again Tuesday with a three-game slate.
