Add another Canadian to the growing list of WNBA superstars, as Chatham Ontario's Bridget Carleton was selected 21st overall to the Connecticut Sun in the 2019 WNBA Draft on Wednesday night.

Carleton completed four stellar years at Iowa State University where she was named Big 12 All-Freshmen Team in 2016, First-team All-Big 12 three times and the Big 12 Player of the Year this past season.

"Bridget had the best year you could ever possibly have," New York Liberty star and fellow Canadian Kia Nurse wrote for NBA.com. "She was Big 12 player of the year, top five in so many categories."

Carleton averaged 21.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.3 steals in her senior season for the Cyclones. She recorded a double-double in 13 of the 34 games played this season.

She finished her college career at Iowa State as the program's all-time leader in points per game and is second all-time in total points in school history.

"One of the all-time greatest players to wear an Iowa State uniform," Nurse continued. "I think that's going to be the reason why she gets drafted because she has a great draft stock right now and she's a great player."

Carleton joins a Sun team that finished with a 21-13 record but lost in the second round of the 2018 WNBA playoffs to the Pheonix Mercury.

As expected, Notre Dame's Jackie Young was selected first overall by the Las Vegas Aces and Asia Durr went second to the New York Liberty.

The 2019 WNBA season begins May 24.
