The 2024 WNBA Draft is complete with several can't-miss prospects. Among them is Stanford's Cameron Brink.

Brink enters the draft after a decorated college career complete with a national championship and several individual accolades, including two conference Player of the Year awards and several Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Brink announced her intentions to move on to the next level ahead of her final NCAA Tournament, which ended in a heartbreaking loss in the Sweet 16.

As the draft nears, Brink's name is almost certainly the second to be called on draft night. Here is what makes her such an intriguing prospect and future star.

Cameron Brink scouting report

Cameron Brink strengths

Brink is a generational prospect on the defensive end. When thinking of what she does well defensively, you have to start with her rim protection.

A 6-4 forward, Brink recorded 424 blocks over her four-year college career. As a senior in 2023-24, Brink led all Division I women's basketball players with 3.7 blocks per game.

Brink is a three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year. This past season, she was named the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year, an honor given to the nation's best defender.

There's always a learning curve with rookies but Brink is good enough to make a defensive impact on Day 1.

More than her defense, Brink is an evolving scorer. After averaging 9.9 points per game as a freshman, Brink steadily increased her scoring up to 17.1 points per game as a senior. She has an impressive face-up game and a turnaround jumper in the post that is often money.

She also wrapped her career with career-best averages of 11.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Cameron Brink weaknesses

As important as she is to the team's defense, Brink has to get better about avoiding foul trouble.

Brink fouled out in the last two games of her college career and was whistled for at least four fouls in seven of her last nine games in the 2023-24 season. She is gifted defensively but can sometimes slide into the bad habit of reaching down rather than remaining vertical when contesting shots.

That habit led to Brink fouling out late in the Round of 32.

Brink has shown growth offensively but should look to continue to evolve her offensive game, both as a shooter and a post scorer.

Brink isn't afraid to step out and shoot the 3. After making 32 triples in her first three college seasons, Brink shot 21 of 69 from distance as a senior in 2023-24.

The mentality and mechanics are a start, and Brink has shown no sign of not being able to continue to evolve as a shooter. Overall, Brink will also benefit from adding strength, which is an inevitability with time.

Cameron Brink WNBA Mock Draft projection

Mock Draft projection: Lottery pick

In my 2024 WNBA Mock Draft, I have Brink going second overall to the Los Angeles Sparks, who own two picks in the top four in this year's draft.

In addition to her rim protection, Brink's overall game has grown each year, with her evolving into averaging 17.5 points and 11.9 rebounds as a senior. That evolution shows her potential is through the roof and she'll continue to grow as LA rebuilds.

In addition to Brink, I have LA taking South Carolina center Kamilla Cardoso, who is also a defensive ace. Brink stands to become one half of a fearsome frontcourt duo that brings the rebuilding Sparks one step closer to competing with the league's elite.

When thinking about the league, the average height of the last five MVPs is 6-4.75. A strong frontcourt is the key to contending.
