Angel Reese's sparkling rookie campaign came to an unexpected end on Saturday. The Sky phenom announced that she suffered an injury which would keep her out of commission for the remainder of the year.
Reese released a lengthy statement on X, the website formerly known as Twitter. Although she didn't specify the nature of her injury, she was listed on Chicago's injury report as dealing with a wrist issue following the Sky's 92-78 win over the Sparks, a game in which Reese dropped 24 points and 12 rebounds.
With her announcement, Reese likely surrenders her claim at the title of Rookie of the Year to Fever standout Caitlin Clark. The LSU product is a lock for All-Rookie first team honors. But she likely won't get a chance to hoist the ultimate prize for a first-year player.
Nevertheless, Reese's first season in the W was one for the ages. Her impact, both to her team and the league at large, was made all the more apparent on the stat sheet, a place where Reese shone in a way few players have in WNBA history.
With that, here's a closer look at the numbers behind Reese's wondrous campaign, as well as a full list of the records she turned to dust in the process.
