Tiger Woods and a majority of the PGA Tour's biggest stars are taking a week off from their 2019 tournament schedules, opting to skip the Valero Texas Open to prepare for next week's Masters, the first major of the golf season.

The field at TPC San Antonio includes only 17 golfers who have qualified to play at Augusta, headlined by odds-on favorite Rickie Fowler (10-1).

That said, this weekend's tournament can be a useful Masters tune-up for those who need it, with an automatic bid to Augusta awarded to its champion. Fowler, ranked No. 8 in the world, is the highest-ranked entry at the Texas Open but has struggled in back-to-back starts and skipped last week's WGC-Dell Match Play.

In his last outing, Fowler finished in a tie for 47th at The Players Championship, so he's among those most in need of a warmup. Tony Finau (16-1), Matt Kuchar (16-1) and Texas native Jordan Spieth (20-1) also make up the top end of the thin 144-player field in San Antonio.
