Diaz's return will be near the three-year anniversary of his last fight, when he lost to Conor McGregor at UFC 202.

He was previously scheduled to fight Dustin Poirier back at UFC 230, but Poirier withdrew due to an injury.

Pettis is coming off a knockout win over two-time title challenger Stephen Thompson in March, which was Pettis' welterweight debut.

UFC 241's main event will be between current heavyweight titleholder Daniel Cormier and former titleholder Stipe Miocic in a rematch battle. The fights will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.
