Pascal Siakam goes off for 19 of his 30 points in third quarter as Toronto blows out Detroit Pistons image

The Toronto Raptors defeated the Detroit Pistons 125-113 to remain undefeated at Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday.

Pascal Siakam led the way with 30 points, 19 of which came in the third period. Kyle Lowry added 20 points, eight assists in the win. Andre Drummond led the way for the Pistons with a double-double of 21 points, 22 rebounds. Derrick Rose came off the bench with 16 points.

Toronto beat Dwane Casey for the first time since the Pistons coach took over in Detroit. Casey and the Pistons swept their regular-season series with the Raptors last year. Next up for the Raptors is a date with the Bucks on Saturday night in Milwaukee. Tip-off set for 8:00 p.m. ET.

End of Game: Raptors 125, Pistons 113

Raptors shot the lights out tonight finishing 59.3% from the field, 60 points in the paint. Ball game.

Lowry finally leaves the game at 1:15 mark, but he quickly picks up a tech foul as he's on the bench. Raps still up big.

2:29 left to play in the game, Nurse should probably take Kyle Lowry out of the game. Raps up 120-107.

Positive signs from Norm Powell coming off the bench and finding his stroke as the Raptors continue to pour it on on the Pistons. In 20 minutes, Powell has 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting. Even Patrick McCaw has shown a bit of life knocking down a triple of his own, he has five points and three rebounds in 14 minutes of play. Toronto needs their bench to come alive at some point this season, this is a positive sign for the Raptors. Raps up 111-90 with 8:34 to play in the game.

End of Third Quarter: Raptors 101, Pistons 85

Pascal Siakam!! 19 points in the quarter, he was unguardable in the third and now has a game-high 30 points. Raptors have blown the game open with a 37-point quarter and lead 101-85 shooting 59.7% from the field. Detroit struggling to find offence without Blake Griffin on the floor, only Derrick Rose seems to be able to create anything for the Pistons. He has a team-high 16.

Raptors locking in defensively now turning turnovers to basket. Another 7-0 run for Toronto, Siakam now up to 18 points, five assists and six rebounds. Pistons are just 1-for-6 from the field since the second of the second half. Raptors up 79-62.

Raptors start the period on an 8-1 run capped off by a Kyle Lowry blow-by and layup. Dwane Casey has seen enough and calls for time. Toronto lead balloons to 13 points. The home squad getting any look they want on offence right now shooting 59.6% from the field. If they lock in defensively they can put this game to bed early. Raps up 72-59.

Halftime: Raptors 64, Pistons 58

Raptors aren't playing with any sense of urgency but still lead by six at the half. Both teams moving the ball well offensively, both teams with 15 assists. Whoever decides to defend should win the game. Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet and OG Annunoby each have 11 points and Serge Ibaka leads the way with 13. Derrick Rose and Markieff Morris each have 14 at the half for Detroit.

Time out on the floor with 4:32 to play in the half. Pascal Siakam already with five assists in the game, taking what the defence is giving him finding the open man. Head coach Nick Nurse told him before the game that once he attracts the double team his job is done and the next step is to make the right play — Siakam is doing that against the Pistons. Serge Ibaka is continuing his strong play with a game-high 13 points off the bench, Sixth Man of the Year? Raptors lead 56-50.

Detroit getting back into the game with strong defence and purposeful offence. Derrick Rose and Markieff Morris providing the spark combining for 22 points. Raptors still relying heavily on Lowry and VanVleet in the backcourt both already over 11 minutes of gameplay. Raptors lead 47-43 6:42 to play in the half.

End of First Quarter: Raptors 37, Pistons 28

Marc Gasol banged knees with Andre Drummond at the 8:20 mark in the first period, TSN's Kate Beirness reporting the Raptors say he's good to go and will be available to return. Siakam leads all scorers with nine points, four assists and three rebounds. VanVleet adding seven shooting 3-for-4 from the field. Raptors as a team shooting 62.5% from the field. They're getting the looks they want in transition and in the half-court. Raptors lead after one by nine.

 

During the timeout, Raptors played a tribute for Dwane Casey who got a nice ovation from the crowd. 

Serge Ibaka and Norm Powell the first two off the bench for the Raptors. Derrick Rose into the game for Detroit after the timeout and he immediately provided some offence for the Pistons. However, Raptors go on a 14-4 run leading to a Dwane Casey time out. OG capped off the run with a strong finish at the rim leading to our first Jack Armstrong "HELLO" of the night. Raptors lead 28-20 with 2:22 remaining in the first quarter.

Good flow to the first few minutes, already five lead changes between the Raptors and Pistons. OG off to a quick start with six points, Andre Drummond matching his six points with six of his own. Marc Gasol looking a little sluggish to start the game, Raptors hoping he can get out of the funk he's been in to start the season. He did drop a nice bounce pass here to find OG inside for a deuce. Timeout on the floor, 5:20 to play in the first period. Raptors up 17-16.
