Toronto Raptors make it nine in a row over Los Angeles Lakers with 111-98 win on Thursday image

The Toronto Raptors defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 111-98 to complete the season sweep. It's now the ninth straight win for the Raptors over the Lakers.

Kawhi Leonard led the way for the Raptors with a team-high 25 points, eight rebounds, four assists. Norman Powell added 20 points off the bench and Marc Gasol finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and four dimes in his first start with Serge Ibaka serving a three-game suspension.

LeBron James finished with a game-high 29 points, six assists and Alex Caruso added 16 off the bench in the loss.

Toronto is now 2.0 games back of the Milwaukee Bucks for first place in the Eastern Conference. Toronto will now turn their attention to a Sunday afternoon game against the Detroit Pistons.

End of Game: Raptors 111 Lakers 98


10:39 p.m. — Ball game, Raptors win making it nine in a row over the Lakers.


10:32 p.m. — LeBron James checks out just before the two-minute mark leaving the game with 29 points, six assists, four rebounds. Luke Walton throwing up the white flag and it looks like the Raptors will get the season sweep.


10:20 p.m. — "Give me that," Pascal Siakam (probably).


10:14 p.m. — Malcolm Miller drills his second triple of the night leading to a Lakers timeout. Raptors up 101-88 with 7:34 remaining in the game. Important minutes out of this timeout coming up for the Lakers as the Raptors will look for the knockout punch.

End of third quarter: Raptors 90 Lakers 84


10:03 p.m. — Lakers close the period on a 7-0 run to get back into the game. Lakers feasting on the inside with 48 points coming in the paint. However, they still haven't found the touch from three-point range shooting just 26%. LeBron James came alive in the third and now has a team-high 22 points, five assists, four rebounds.

Halftime: Raptors 65 Lakers 54


9:19 p.m. — Raptors finish the half on a 14-2 run capped by a Kawhi Leonard triple. Leonard is now up to a game-high 16 points on 6-for-12 shooting from the field. The three-point line has been kind to Toronto as they've shot 44% from the land beyond. Lakers, on the other hand, has been able to connect from three just 27% on the evening.

End of the first quarter: Raptors 33 Lakers 25


8:45 p.m. — Norm Powell splashes home a triple right before the buzzer to extend the Raptors lead to eight points. Toronto was in control from start to finish in that period. Their three-point shots are falling early going 6-for-10 from deep. Powell leads all scorers with 12 points.


8:40 p.m. — Great outlet pass by LeBron to start the Lakers break.


8:38 p.m. — Norm with the jelly.


8:23 p.m. — Kawhi Leonard knocks down back-to-back three leading to a Laker timeout. Toronto up 11-6 midway through the first quarter.
