Gabriela Dabrowski will have to wait to win her first Wimbledon title.
The 27-year-old Canadian, along with teammate Yifan Xu of China, fell 6-2, 6-4 on Sunday to the team of Barbora Strycova and Hsieh Su-wei in the women's doubles final. Only taking an hour and seven minutes to complete, the straight-sets match was the antithesis of the epic contest between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer that had preceded it.
Despite involving the Nos. 3 and 4 seeded teams in the tournament, Sunday's match was a one-sided affair. After storming through the first set, Strycova and Hsieh faced down a moderate challenge from Dabrowski and Xu in the second frame. The Canadian and her Chinese teammate fought back from 3-1 down to make things interesting, but the class of former world doubles No. 1 Hseish and new No. 1 Strycova eventually proved too much to handle.
Strycova and Hsieh won every statistical category en route to the title, serving two aces (to Dabrowski/Xu's zero) and holding an 83-67 advantage in first-serve percentage. Crucially, the winning side converted on four of six break point opportunities, while only allowing one successful break point (of five) against.
It was a convincing end to a dominant tournament for Strycova and Hsieh.

Sunday's match was originally scheduled for Saturday evening at the All-England Club, but was postponed due to the men's double's final running long. It was again delayed when Novak Djokovic needed nearly five hours to defeat Roger Federer in the men's final.
