It's been a magical stretch of tennis for 18-year-old Denis Shapovalov, who is looking to continue that run on Friday at Arthur Ashe Stadium in the third round of the 2017 U.S. Open. Shapovalov's latest opponent will be Kyle Edmund, as the upstart Canadian will look at advance to the round of 16. Follow along as Sporting News breaks down the action as it occurs.

After slowly making his way out of his chair to begin the set, Edmund is having difficulty getting any kind of momentum behind his shots. Shapovalov holds on love. Shapovalov leads, 1-0

Still in the driver's seat, Shapovalov produces another break, and takes the second set. Shapovalov wins, 6-3
Shapovalov goes on a run of 10 consectuive points since the medical timeout and gets another hold on love. Shapovalov leads, 5-3
Edmund appears to be having some difficulty on his serve, perhaps due to whatever upper-body discomfort he's feeling. Shapovalov gets a hold on love. Shapovalov leads, 4-3
Out of the medical timeout, and Shapovalov leaves Edmund on love for the hold. Tied, 3-3
A pair of quick points put Shapovalov in a poisition to break, but Edmund wins the next three. Shapovalov forces deuce on a deep return shot that catches Edmund on a short hop. But Edmund wards off Shapovalov for another hold. Edmund appears to have some discomfort near his left should and calls for the physio. Edmund leads, 3-2
With a strong game on his backhand, Shapovalov responds with a hold. Tied, 2-2
Shapovalov puts up a fight to get an early break, but Edmund serves out after forcing deuce. Edmund leads, 2-1

Second set (Shapovalov wins, 6-3)
Edmund puts a scare into Shapovalov, taking a 40-15 lead. But Shapovalov storms back, winning the next four points and picking up his first set. Shapovalov wins, 6-3
One of the better rallies of the match sees Shapovalov catch Edmund on his wrong foot to open the game. A defensive return from Shapovalov manages to catch the line on a point the Canadian challenges to get overturned. Edmund storms right back with three big serves to take a 40-30 lead. A longer rally with some cross-court shots sees Shapovalov force deuce. Shapovalov takes advantage of a second serve to earn a set point, but Edmund stays alive with another big serve. Again, the players trade points to sit on deuce. A strong backhand return down the line gives Shapovalov his second set-point of the match, but Edmund again forces deuce. Again, Shapovalov wins a point off Edmund's second serve, and gets his third set-point, but an unforced error on the backhand forces a fifth deuce of the game. On his fourth set point of the game, Shapovalov shanks a backhand to create the sixth deuce of the game. In the eighth minute of the game, Edmund has a chance to hold, and Shapovalov hits a forehand shot long. Shapovalov leads, 5-3
A pair of double-faults complicates Shapovalov's hold. Struggling to keep his first-serve in, Shapovalov holds off a charge for Edmund to come up with the hold, punctuating it with a big fist-pump. Shapovalov leads, 5-2
Shapovalov manages a few points off Edmund's serve, but he holds to keep himself alive in set two. Shapovalov leads, 4-2
A convincing consolidation gives Shapovalov a three-game lead in the second set. Shapovalov leads, 4-1

After Edmund wins two convincing points on serve, Shapovalov charges back and forces a break point. Shapovalov gets a chance to steal a game but put a cross-court forehand wide with lots of court to hit into. Six points later Shapovalov outlasts Edmund for the first break of the second set and potentially a big moment. Shapovalov leads, 3-1
More errors continue to creep into Shapovalov's game. After winning the first point, an ace is challenged by Edmund and overturned. Shapovalov puts a winner in the front court into the net on the backhand. But the teenager continues to battle, holding serve and maintaing his advantage. Shapovalov leads, 2-1
Edmund makes quick work on serve, holding Shapovalov on love on four quick points. Tied, 1-1
If Shapovalov was thinking about his missteps in the first set, he didn't let it show. A long rally ends with Edmund try to play a drop shot only for Shapovalov to advance forward and power the return past him. Shapovalov leads, 1-0
First set (Edmund wins, 6-3)
Though Shapovalov is still having difficulty finding the court on some of his shots, he's starting to generate more power, forcing Edmund deeper into the court. Some longer rallies go Shapovalov's way before Edmund erases a 15-40 deficit at 40-all. An Edmund ace is upheld on a challenge and Shapovalov loses the next rally. Edmund wins, 6-3
In yet another game on serve, Shapovalov concedes the first two points. With a chance to get even at 30-all, Shapovalov comes to the net only to see the ball dink of the lip at the last second, deflecting away. Shapovalov hits a forehand wide at 30-40 and Edmund will go back to serve for the set. Edmund leads, 5-3
After dropping three straight sets, Edmund shows no signs of breaking, holding on love, including his first ace of the match. Edmund leads, 4-3
With the game tied 15-all, Shapovalov has a chance to put away a point with a smash at the net, but a defensive return from Edmund flips the game. Shapovalov climbs out of a 15-40 hole though after Edmund hits an unforced forehand error into the net, forcing deuce. A shanked return and an ace saves two break-points for Shapovalov, who gets a crucial hold. Tied, 3-3
Showing some of that aggressiveness he's come to be known for, Shapovalov comes out and starts attacking Edmund's serve, moving him around the court. Shapovalov takes the first two points of the game, but hits three unforced errors on the backhand, letting Edmund climb back in. But trailing 40-30, Shapovalov forces deuce, and sets up a forehand winner before Edmund double-faults. Edmund leads, 3-2
Shapovalov starting to find more of a rhythm on his serve, and using some shots to set up his forehand. He holds at love to get on the scoreboard. Edmund leads, 3-1
