What a day for the Canadians at the Rotterdam Open.

Vasek Pospisil got the day started Wednesday with a major upset of the tournament No. 1 seed Daniil Medvedev in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, before Felix Auger-Aliassime took the court against Grigor Dimitrov in the Round of 16, also advancing in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2.

For the teenager, the win means a spot in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament quarterfinals while Pospisil earned his opportunity to play in the Round of 16 for a chance to join Auger-Aliassime in the quarters.

Knocking off Dimitrov was sweet revenge for 19-year-old as the Bulgarian was responsible for eliminating the Canadian's countryman, Denis Shapovalov, in the first round.

As for Pospisil, it may not have been revenge, but it was sweet just the same.

Just days after being spotted swigging straight maple syrup courtside in the Open Sud de France final, the Canadian topped that taste with one of victory, taking down the tournament favorite, Medvedev. Tennis Canada's Twitter account had some fun with his drink of choice following the recent win.

The organization also tweeted: "This upset was brought to you by a bottle of maple syrup."

Pospisil will now face Filip Krajinović in the second round on Thursday. Auger-Aliassime will go against the winner of Aljaž Bedene and tournament No. 2 Stefanos Tsitsipas at a date and time to be determined.
