The court case involving Nick Kyrgios has been adjourned until next year, with the tennis star set to undergo a mental health assessment.
The 27-year-old has been charged with one count of common assault relating to an incident with his former partner, Chiara Passari.
Currently in Tokyo competing in the Japan Open, Kyrgios was set to attend court in the ACT on Tuesday, but did not appear.
His lawyer, Michael Kukulies-Smith, is seeking an adjournment to the case to allow time for Kyrgios to undergo a mental heath assessment and the court obliged to the request.
Kyrgios' legal team are looking to have the charges dismissed on mental health grounds.
Lawyers for Nick Kyrgios say they will apply to have a common assault charge against the tennis star thrown out on mental health grounds. The case has been adjourned. No date set yet.
