Miami Open 2019: Bianca Andreescu mounts big comeback to defeat Irina-Camelia Begu image

Never count Bianca Andreescu out.

The 18-year-old Canadian, fresh off her victory at Indian Wells, returned to the court at the 2019 Miami Open on Thursday, and once again showed why she is considered one of the world's most promising young tennis stars.

Facing Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu in the first round, Andreescu's first match after her famous win was actually supposed to take place on Wednesday night, but inclement weather pushed the match to early Thursday afternoon.

As it turns out, the weather was just one challenge Andreescu would have to overcome.

Begu, the 28-year-old world No. 70, proved a big test for the young Canadian. After taking the first set 6-4, Begu jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the second set and seemed destined to hand Andreescu her fourth loss of the year.

However, Andreescu summoned some of the steely resolve that she showed in spades at Indian Wells last week and fought back to win four straight games and force a tiebreak. The momentum swing stayed with the teenager and she took the tiebreak easily before romping through the deciding set to clinch what moments earlier seemed like an impossible victory.

Andreescu moves on to the second round, where she'll face 20-year-old American Sofia Kenin.
