The biggest event on the global tennis calendar is here once again, as the 137th edition of the Championships at Wimbledon get started Monday, July 1.
Both the men's and women's tournaments are too close to call at this early stage, with so many players arriving in red-hot form. New ATP world No. 1 Jannik Sinner has displaced both Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic at the top of the men's seedings, the latter duo having contested the 2023 Final that the Spaniard won in five sets.
Women's world No. 1 Iga Swiatek has just collected her third French Open title in a row, but she has struggled at Wimbledon so far in her career and that could open the door for a surprise winner — last year, for example, saw unseeded Czech star Marketa Vondrousova make history by going all the way to the final and defeating Ons Jabeur.
Canada have two of their best hopes in the top-32 seeded places, with Montral's Leylah Fernandez ranked 30th among the WTA competitors and her compatriot Felix Auger-Aliassime also looking to cause a stir as the 17th-ranked player in the men's side.
