Genie Bouchard has found her way into the 2018 Rogers Cup.

Bouchard, who wasn't selected to the tournament's initial entry list, received a wild-card entry into next month's event. The 24-year-old has competed in each Rogers Cup tournament since 2011. Bouchard's strong performance at the Swiss Open, where she advanced to the semifinals, helped solidify her spot in Montreal.

“Eugenie is currently showing great things and we hope that she can keep her momentum going in Montreal,” Rogers Cup Tournament Director Eugène Lapierre said in a statement. “She gave fans a great show back in April when she got two important wins at the most recent Fed Cup tie.

"She also thrilled the crowds at the 2016 Rogers Cup presented by National Bank. We can not wait to see her in action at home once again. It will be a great way to kick-off the tournament to see her play on Centre Court on the first day of the main draw.”

The advantage of playing in front of her native Canada was non-existent as she fell to Donna Vekic in the first round at last year's Rogers Cup. Following the match, Bouchard said "someone else can carry the burden of Canada" citing that the loss affected her confidence level.

While the Canadian is currently playing her best tennis of the year, there is no guarantee Bouchard will be able to compete by Aug. 6, where she is slated to begin her campaign in Montreal.

Bouchard suffered a groin injury during her match on Saturday, according to multiple reports. She was forced to retire from the contest, putting her Rogers Cup hopes in jeopardy.

Former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka also received a wild card entry. The remainder of the 56-player draw will be revealed on Aug. 3, a day before the tournament's qualifying round begins.
