Tennis returns to New York, and not just for the U.S. Open. For the first time since 2018, Madison Square Garden will host The Garden Cup.
The World's Most Famous Arena first hosted tennis events in 1968 but began its one-night-only competitions in 2008, which featured players like Roger Federer, Serena and Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray and more. In its 2024 return, The Garden Cup will feature some of the biggest names in tennis in Jessica Pegula, Emma Navarro, Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcarez.
One night only this December, the men's and women's competitors will face off from inside the Garden, one of the most unique tennis atmospheres in the world. If you thought the U.S. Open was a tournament to remember, book your calendar for Dec. 4.

The Garden Cup 2024 matchups, players
The Garden Cup will feature matchups between some of the best players in the world when Ben Shelton and Carlos Alcaraz face off, as well as Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro.
Pegula and Navarro, the third and eighth players in WTA rankings, had career-best runs this year at the U.S. Open. Both made it to the semifinals, and while Navarro fell to Aryna Sabalenka there, Pegula advanced to the finals where she finished as runner-up.
At the U.S Open, Shelton (17) lost in the Round of 32 to eventual semifinalist Frances Tiafoe, though Shelton had a career-best finish in last year's tournament as a semifinalist. Alcaraz, the No. 3 ranked player in the world, was upset in the Round of 64. The Spaniard won the 2022 U.S. Open as well as the 2024 French Open and Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024.
