French Open 2018: Bianca Andreescu advances to final qualifying round image

Bianca Andreescu is one step closer making it out of the French Open qualifying rounds.

Andresscu defeated Viktoriya Tomova, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to the second round of qualifying matches. The lone Canadian woman remaining will face the Netherlands' Richèl Hogenkamp on Friday with a spot in the main draw on the line.

Andreescu's run at Roland-Garros has been nothing short of remarkable. At 17 years old, Andreescu is one of the youngest players who entered the qualifying draw. She defeated No. 1-ranked Vera Lapko before taking down Tomova in straight sets on Thursday morning. Now, Andresscu's focus shifts to Hogankamp.

Hogenkamp's specialty is the clay surface. Since 2009, she has won seven events when playing on clay. She quickly advanced past her first round matchup, dropping only two games in the straight-set victory, but her second round matchup proved to be much more challenging. She defeated Ons Jabeur, 7-6, 5-7, 7-4 to set up a meeting with Andreescu.

The main draw at the French Open begins on Sunday.
