Three Canadians entered Friday in the quarterfinals at the Open 13 Provence in France.
Only one is moving on to the semifinals.
Felix Auger-Aliassime, who lost to Gael Monfils Sunday in the Rotterdam Open Final, is heading to semis in Marseille as he defeated Egor Gerasimov in straight sets.
The 19-year-old continues his rise as he entered this tournament as the world No. 18 singles player. Auger-Aliassime took the first set behind a powerful service game, winning 79 percent of his first-serve points.
Gerasimov was unable to break Auger-Aliassime's serve as the Canadian took the first set 7-5.
After a competitive first set, Auger-Aliassime cruised through the second set winning 6-2. He finished the match winning 83 percent of his first sets and four break points on 11 opportunities.

Awaiting Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals is the hometown favorite Gilles Simon. The two will meet for the second time with Auger-Aliassime winning the first meeting last year.
Shapovalov, Pospisil both eliminated
It was not a happy ending for Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil in the quarterfinals as they both lost.
Pospisil lost to the defending Open 13 Provence champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets 7-5, 6-3.
The world No. 6 overpowered Pospisil winning 87 percent of his first-serve points including serving eight aces.
The Vernon, B.C., native didn't get one break point opportunity the entire match.
After snapping a four-match losing streak Thursday, Shapovalov suffered a three-set defeat to Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik.
Bublik took the first set 7-5 and was on the verge of winning in straight sets, but Shapovalov finally won a break point in the second set on his eighth attempt of the match to force a third set.

Bublik's 14 aces for the match proved to be too much to overcome for Shapovalov as Bublik won the deciding set 6-3 to clinch a spot in the semifinals.
