The tennis world gathers in Canada this week, as the 2023 National Bank Open begins in Toronto and Montreal.

The men's and women's tennis tournament is the first August event on the tour, and the only time the ATP and WTA tours gather in Canada.

Not only will there be plenty of star power at the competition, but there will be plenty of representation from the home country. On the men's side, Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No. 10 ranked man, headlines a group of five Canadians. For the women, it's Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez headlining the three Canadian women partaking at the National Open.

One of Canada's top male tennis stars won't be participating in the event. Denis Shapovalov, ranked no. 23 in the world by ATP, withdrew from the National Bank Open a week before the tournament started due to a knee injury
