Bianca Andreescu had to extend herself Sunday night at the Miami Open.
The Mississaugua, Ont., native needed 2 hours and 44 minutes to complete a 7-6 (4), 6-7 (2), 6-4 victory over Amanda Anisimova in the Round of 32.
Andreescu, ranked No. 9 in the world and seeded eighth in the tournament, squandered a 2-0 lead in the second set en route to losing a tiebreak to the American. She took a medical timeout in the third set while trailing 2-1.

"My game, I know that it can be better, but I'm trying to find ways to push through on my off days, and I think I'm doing that well," the 20-year-old Andreescu said after the match (per the WTA Tour website).
"I think that's what makes a really good player, and I'm trying to be that really good player like I was in 2019," she added. "I did that today, and I just want to fight and give it my all and then the rest will come."
Andreescu and the 28th-seeded Anisimova know each other well from their time as amateurs, but this was their first meeting as professionals, the WTA site reported.
"I felt very good mentally before the match, and then on the court I felt really good. It's hard playing a player that she's super erratic. She just slaps every ball, but she slaps it very well. I don't want to say that in a bad way. But she's a really good player," Andreescu said, per the WTA website.
Andreescu won't have much time to rest after Sunday's marathon. Her next assignment is Monday night in the Round of 16 against Garbine Muguruza, the No. 13 player in the world and the 12th seed in the tournament.
