Bianca Andreescu's return to the court appears imminent.

After she missed the Australian Open, the injured tennis star was named to Canada's Fed Cup roster on Tuesday for a crucial qualifying tie against Switzerland. Andreescu had been recovering from a knee injury that she suffered at the WTA Finals in October, keeping the teenager out of the first Grand Slam event of 2020.

Ranked No. 6 in the world, Andreescu is joined on Canada's roster by Genie Bouchard (212), 17-year-old Laylah Annie Fernandez (202) and eighth-ranked doubles specialist Gabriela Dabrowski. The Canadians will face host Switzerland in Biel on Feb. 7 and 8.

“The team is looking forward to playing in Biel,” Canada's Fed Cup captain Heidi El Tabakh said in a statement. “The girls had some good results to start the year and I now hope they will carry that energy into this tie. Switzerland has a very tough team and will have the support of a home crowd, but I know that our team will fight until the very last ball with the goal of qualifying for the Fed Cup Finals in Budapest.”

Led by Andreescu, the Canadian women will aim to advance to April's Fed Cup Finals in Budapest, Hungary.
