History may not be on Bianca Andreescu's side at the 2019 Auckland Open, but the young Canadian has been rewriting expectations all week long.

Andreescu is preparing for the final after ousting former world No. 1s Caroline Wozniacki and Venus Williams on consecutive days. She followed that up with a 6-3, 6-3 semifinal victory over Hsieh Su-Wei, who is currently ranked 28th in the world.

For an 18-year-old that entered the tournament ranked 152nd, her run to the tournament final is nothing short of stunning.

"I guess Auckland just brings the best out of me," Andreescu told reporters. "I don't know what's going on really."

Andreescu has one more match to play in Auckland. She'll take on reigning tournament champion Julia Goerges in the final (Sunday, 1:30 a.m. ET on DAZN), and if she wins Andreescu will become the first qualifier to win the tournament since 1997.

In addition, the match will be Andreescu's first-ever WTA-level championship match, with a victory guaranteed to put her into the top 100 in the world rankings.

No pressure, right?

If she's proven anything this week, the Mississauga, Ont., native has shown that she has been able to deal with each challenge as it comes.

"I think it's really important to me to just stay in the present moment," she said. "And I think I've been doing that this whole week and I'm beyond grateful right now."
