Alexander Zverev has been placed on probation for one year by the ATP following his violent outburst in Acapulco last month.
The German star repeatedly smashed his racket against the umpire's chair after a doubles defeat at the Mexican Open.
He was then kicked out of the event for unsportsmanlike conduct and fined $40,000.
Zverev has now been determined to have been in violation of Aggravated Behavior under the Player Major Offense section.
Throughout the length of his probation, the world No. 3 will be allowed to compete in events.
However, if he receives a code violation that leads to a fine for unsportsmanlike conduct or for “verbal or physical abuse of an official, opponent, spectator or any other person while on-court or on-site,” he will receive an eight-week suspension from ATP events and be fined an additional $25,000.
The probation will finish on February 22, 2023, one year after his outburst.
Zverev has until Friday to appeal the ruling.

Tennis legend Serena Williams recently spoke regarding the matter, calling out the disparity in punishments for female and male tennis players in an interview with CNN.
"There is absolutely a double standard," Williams said. "I would probably be in jail if I did that — like, literally, no joke. I was actually on probation once."
Williams was fined $175,000 and placed on probation for two years in 2009 after she verbally abused a line judge in her US Open semifinal against eventual champion Kim Clijsters.
"You see that (double standard) when you see other things happening on the tour, like, 'Wait — if I had done that? Hmm,'" she said. "But it's okay. At the end of the day I am who I am and I love who I am."
