The United States will renew the rivalry with their northern neighbors as they meet Canada in the quarterfinals of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

These two teams met in the final of the Nations League just weeks ago, with the U.S. winning 2-0, controlling the match from start to finish. Each side sports a vastly different roster for this Gold Cup tournament, with most first-teamers released for the summer break and replaced by fringe talent.

Depleted rosters have proven a challenge for both sides, with the U.S. held to a draw by a strong Jamaica squad in their opening group stage match, while Canada barely escaped their group altogether, needing a win over Cuba to clinch a spot in the knockouts.

Still, each side is yet to be defeated so far in the Gold Cup, and only one can advance from this point forward as they search for continental silverware.

If the teams are level after 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes of extra time. If the deadlock persists, a penalty kick shootout will follow to determine a winner on the day.

USMNT vs Canada odds

Canada is a big underdog in this match, but maybe not as big as expected given their average performances this tournament and the fact they're missing key players. Sportsbooks have still installed Canada at just a hair over 3/1 to win in regulation, and under 2/1 to advance to the semifinal round.

Goals are expected to be at a premium despite the fact that Canada put four past Cuba in the last round, while the United States hung 12 combined goals on St. Kitts & Nevis and Trinidad & Tobago.
