Chelsea's shambling season took another turn for the worst on Christmas Eve as Wolves inflicted an eighth Premier League defeat of the campaign upon Mauricio Pochettino's side.

Christopher Nkunku's first Chelsea goal deep into stoppage time provided a small crumb of comfort on another day when Pochettino's forwards were horrifically wasteful.

Crystal Palace have only won once in the Premier League since late September but claimed a 2-2 comeback draw at champions Manchester City in their previous away game.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch it across the world, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace lineups

Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling collected bookings at Molineux that mean a one-match suspension. The upshot is Pochettino might be without up to 11 senior players, although a full-debut for Nkunku possibly awaits.

Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are pushing to return. In their absence against Wolves, Lesley Ugochukwu started in midfield and came off injured.

Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Robert Sanchez, Reece James, and Wesley Fofana are all out, while veteran defender Thiago Silva is overdue a rest.

Projected Chelsea lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Petrovic (GK) — Gusto, Disasi, Badiashile, Colwill — Caicedo, Gallagher, Fernandez — Mudryk, Jackson, Broja

Influential midfielder Eberechi Eze should be ready to return to the starting XI after substitute appearances in Palace's past two games.

Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is pushing to return from a calf strain but fellow England international Dean Henderson  could keep his place between the posts.

Projected Crystal Palace lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Henderson (GK) — Clyne, Andersen, Guehi, Mitchell — Lerma, Richards, Eze — Olise, Mateta, Ayew

Chelsea vs Crystal Palace prediction

Although Chelsea's latest setback on the road brought further scrutiny for Pochettino and his under-fire squad, their record at Stamford Bridge recently is pretty strong. The Blues are unbeaten in their past five games on home turf across all competitions.

As creditably as Palace performed in their most recent games against Liverpool, Manchester City and rivals Brighton — claiming draws in the latter two — they spent an awful lot of time without the ball. Roy Hodgson's injury list remains considerable and such a workload might eventually take its toll.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Crystal Palace
