Ghana striker Patrick Kojo Twumasi has blamed Astana's 3-2 defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League on their forwards for being wasteful in front of goal.

The 23-year-old assisted the opening goal scored by Junior Kabanga but the Spanish side turned the game on its head and took a 3-1 lead in the second half on Thursday.

Although, Twumasi scored a late consolation he believes his side deserved better, insisting they should have taken their chances.

"Despite all my ankle injury, I was able to help the team and give one assist and one goal" Twumasi wrote on Facebook.

"For my wife and my lovely fans who came from long way to support us, we could've even won this game easy if not [for] some selfish play from some players. Thanks for the love, fans. God is good," he added.

Astana now sit third on the log with seven points, four behind Villarreal, who have qualified for the knockout stage of the competition with a game to spare. Twumasi's side must now win their last away game against Slavia Praha on December 7.
